Job Summary

The Nursing Home Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious and appealing meals for our residents. Additionally, the cook will ensure that all kitchen operations adhere to health and safety regulations while creating a welcoming atmosphere. This role requires teamwork, compassion, and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of meals, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
Plan menus that are nutritious, accommodating residents with dietary restrictions.
Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate food service activities.
Maintain high food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
Order food supplies and maintain inventory to ensure a consistent workflow.
Collaborate with healthcare staff to meet residents’ nutritional needs.
Engage with residents and respond to their feedback regarding meals.
Train and mentor new kitchen staff as needed.
Participate in kitchen staff meetings and contribute to the overall improvement of kitchen operations.

Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience in a cooking or food preparation role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Culinary certification or completion of a culinary arts program is a plus.
Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and empathy for the elderly population.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
